So Pineapple Wednesday just didn't happen this week. I know. That's awful, but it just didn't work out this week. To be honest, it's completely my fault. I got a new ukulele. That's my excuse. As lame as it is. It's a beautiful baritone ukulele (not that you care) but it came with a broken string. Instead of fulfilling my pineapple duties, I hunted all over for baritone ukulele strings. Before I knew it, I had to go to class. Game over.
But... the good news. :)
Today as I was on my way home from class, I was thinking about Pineapple Wednesday. Just then, I opened a fortune cookie. It read: "The project you have in mind will soon gain momentum." I think it's an omen. A good omen. Pineapple Wednesday is going places. Definitely. Well... it's also been turned into a short story!
My dear friend Katie Wan wrote this story inspired by Pineapple Wednesday. It's great and if you get the chance to read it, I hope you enjoy. :)

Well that's all for now! Aloha!

Pineapple Wednesday came back for a second week. This time the adventure started at the grocery store. I had donned my Pineapple Wednesday shirt and headed off to buy the beloved pineapple. While making my purchase, the cashier made the mistake of asking me about my plans for the day. I told him ALLLL about Pineapple Wednesday. He probably thinks I'm pretty. Ha. No. He probably thinks I'm pretty crazy though. But whether he was actually interested or just playing along, he asked me what I do for the other days of the week. This is something I hadn't actually thought about. An expansion of Pineapple Wednesday?! Hmm... Probably won't happen I would be in the poor house! But he suggested ice cream for the weekends. I do so like ice cream. :)
So I guess what I'm saying is maybe we've spread the word a little bit? Maybe we have a new fan? Maybe still no one even knows about us. But hey, Provo! We're here. And we have pineapple! I was hoping that since so many people in Provo are apparently obsessed with Psych, that people would get it. It's only been 2 weeks so I guess we will just have to wait and see.
This week there was no hurried rush to get to the designated Pineapple delivery zone, no extensive search for a parking space where I won't get a ticket. It was a lot more calm than the first. Of course I talked too fast and started to get desperate and just shoved it in some poor soul's hands, but we are starting to get things figured out.
This week we started out in the science building. I had never set foot inside that building before, but it was cold outside and it was the first building with unlocked doors that we came too! We wandered a bit, but most people were in class or talking on their cell phones or listening to ipods. We seriously walked up and down every floor of that building before we decided to go somewhere else.
Can I just say how much I love the weird looks I get when people see us wandering around campus carrying a pineapple? If they only knew. I try to educate as many people as possible, but it's hard when there's only one pineapple to give away each week. Sigh. If only Pineapples were free and money grew on trees right?
Around this point I started getting tired of wandering in circles and started getting pretty desperate. Then I saw someone coming up the stairs. No cell phone. No ipod. Just coming up the stairs. I put on my big cheesy grin and stepped in front of him. I love that first reaction of people. I wish I could just take a picture of everyone's face. Ha. It would be so exciting. But I do my little spiel about me and my partner of the week "Galileo Humpkins." Let me tell you how hard that was to say about a girl without laughing. For real. I promised it wasn't toxic. Which I promise it really wasn't.
No updates to report on either week thus far. I think the people of USU were a little more open to random girls giving them pineapples... since we had updates on almost everyone there. But we are still willing to give UVU a chance. Maybe when spring rolls around and the days become warmer it will seem just a little less peculiar. But then again... maybe not. But Pineapple Wednesday will continue nevertheless.
Until next week...
Aloha!

Pineapple Wednesday is officially back! My new partner and I have delivered the first pineapple... but not without some adventure! For those of you who have forgotten (or who are new to the Pineapple Project) here's the deal: Every Wednesday, my associate (this week Ghee Buttersnaps) and I head out and deliver a pineapple to a random stranger. Why? Who knows. Fun? The look on someone's face when a weird girl holding a pineapple sidesteps in front of them with a big grin on her face? The adventure that always comes with it? The mystery of who the recipient is and what they do with the pineapple? I don't know for sure. Maybe it's just a fun moment for me to break out of my comfort zone a little bit. But no matter the reason, Pineapple Wednesday is back in action.
Yesterday was the first Pineapple Wednesday in my new town and at my new school. It was exciting and exhilarating. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, Pineapple Wednesday happens a little later than we would normally plan. My associate works until 2pm. And that's exactly when I start class. Until 7. :( The bad news is that it means there are very few people left on campus (and a majority of the people left are older and married). We are trying to find a solution... but for now I guess Pineapple Wednesday will have to remain a little later. This does come with a few adventures though.
My class is not at the main campus... And it's a culinary arts class. That means a couple of things. A. I'm 15 minutes away from campus when I start. B. I'm in an ugly chef uniform. C. I have the most awful hat hair.
After class... which got out LATE! (on the first Pineapple Wednesday! How rude!) I had to change my clothes in my car while driving to the main campus. It was a nightmare! During this process, my finger (that I wounded during class the day before) started spurting blood all over the place... including on the Pineapple Wednesday Pineapple Shirt! AYE! When I finally made it to the campus, there was nowhere to park! The institute parking was supposed to be open, but it wasn't and I don't have a campus parking pass! OH NO! So... I had to drive somewhere off campus to park and my associate had to come pick me up! Talk about stressful! The more time we wasted parking, the less chance we had to find someone to deliver our precious fruit to!
We entered the library, but there were very few people to be found, and those that were seemed to be engrossed in their homework or their headphones. I guess it is pretty early in the semester to be studying too much. We took a turn toward the Business and Science buildings. There were a few people here and there, but most of them were talking on their phones or talking to other people. (We don't like to interrupt).
Finally! We found a worthy candidate... though it's not like we have TOO many requirements. We just tend to look for someone that looks open to the possibility of receiving a pineapple from a random stranger. (We had an experience before where the "winner" gave away our pineapple! It was just coincidental that he happened to give it to the roommate of one of our friends. hah. funny right?) Well anyway, we found someone. I gave my spiel about how I'm not crazy and it's not toxic... which probably makes me sound more crazy. OOPS. :S I talked too fast... like always. But I think we got our point across.
No word from the winner yet.. but maybe. Both the number of the pineapple hotline (aka my cell phone) and the blog url were in the card. Maybe we will hear something! I will keep you updated!
In other news, my associate and I had an idea. (Okay really she had the idea.. and I just liked it.) Since there is an episode of Psych (our inspiration) entitled Tuesday the 17th, we are declaring any Tuesday the 17th a Pineapple Wednesday Holiday on which a Pineapple shall be given out. (How we are going to explain this to the recipient is to be determined, but we have until May to figure it out)
Well that's all for now, dear readers. I hope you had a wonderful Pineapple Wednesday!
Aloha!
